Our youth program, “Inner Harmony”, focuses on the silent victims of the violence and crime that have plagued the country for decades.
Adolescents commit 1/3 of the crimes in Colombia
¼ of the young adolescent girls between the ages of 15 and 18 are pregnant or already have a child
In underprivileged urban neighbourhoods, only 12% of the youth have finished their high school
Colombia is the third country in the world with minors enlisted in the ranks of illegal armed groups
There is 10 times the violence per young person in Colombia as in the US

New meaning to life
During 2005-2007, we joined forces with the Psycosocial Department of the Ministry of Justice and Defense. Our music therapy technique was applied to programs for the reinsertion of young men and women who have withdrawn from illegal armed groups. To date, we have attended 700 demobilized.
One must see beyond the heart breaking exterior of poverty and neglect, and look into the eager faces of Colombia’s youth, who refuse to give in, who continue to believe that not even the most daunting obstacles are impossible to overcome.
I tend to believe that the same force that makes us Colombians so happy, in spite of the condition our country is presently in, is what charms so many foreigners when they visit us, even if they happen to suffer a small mishap during their stay. Call it what you will: idiosyncracy, spirit, enchantment, magic... --Daniel Samper Pizano
